Should food service people wear masks?

If food servers have food in front of them and have to ask customers what they want constantly, should they wear masks to prevent saliva from getting into your food? Why?Should food service people wear masks?
You know they really should. If you think about it its nasty, they should wear masks because their breathing on your food. They should aslo wear gloves because they are touching your food and their dead skin particles are falling off into you food as well. And thay should wear hair net things. How many fu**ing times have you or someone you know found a hair in your food? People are just so nasty. Like forest gump says - You never know what your gonna get ...... hahahahahahaShould food service people wear masks?
No way, why do you think we cannot cope with tiny amounts of bacteria now?? Answer because evrything is so sterile! Resistance to illness is through been in environments that are not completely sterile.


As far as I'm concerned I'd be more worried if a waiter was wearing mask %26amp; gloves as it would hint that they had something to hide in any case.


Maybe you should think about living in an oxygen tent like Michael Jackson....lol





If you mean like in a carvery then the time from when the miniscule amount of saliva as you put it from the persons mouth would not be enough to make a difference in terms of bacterial growth. It takes twenty minutes(roughly) for bacteria to grow. Given the time from cutting the food to go on the plate it would not affect you %26amp; even less so if the food was piping hot.
Do you wear a mask at home? And you serve others, right. I don't think masks are necessary.

I don't believe that they should wear masks, but I do think that sanitary precautions should be taken. For example, gloves, hair nets, face clean shaven, etc. Things along these lines help prevent the spread of germs. As for masks for covering saliva, I believe that as long as your food doesn't have a protective cover over the top of it, anything can get into it at anytime.
They NEED to have their hair up and away from their face......in a cap or something!!!!!

NO......servers are always trained in the food industry to keep their hands clean. yes, saliva is airborne every time we speak, so how do you think the server feels when she is taking your order and your saliva becomes airborne when you are giving her your order. Not to mention people go to restaurants expecting good service and a server who is very personable and has very good people skills. A mask is quite impersonable. and how is someone supposed to convey their personality with their face covered when our facial expressions and our body language says alot about who we are and what kind of a person we are. So again, No - servers should not wear masks
