What would be a good way to make my own Phantom of the Opera mask?

I need one that looks good. And preferably I'd want one like the one Michael Crawford wore on Broadway. What would be a good way to make my own Phantom of the Opera mask?
If you can find someone to help you, the best way to make one is to make a theater death mask, which is basically a plaster mask made to mimic your face shape. Though the actual death mask is used to make a casing of a person's face after they... well... die, a death mask can be made for theater to serve as the base for a full-face mask (say, if the person was playing a creature or something and needed the mask to fit their face perfectly).

The mask should fit to the contours of your face, and since it's plaster you can shape it however you want. Don't do this, however, if you're claustrophobic.
