How can i make a mask like the one scarecrow had in batman begins?

I dont want to buy some crappy plastic one from some shop. How can i make a mask like the one scarecrow had in batman begins?
In my opinion, I would probably use a potato sack or maybe go to a fabric store and get material similar to that. It's the closest thing that I think resembles it. Cut two holes for the eyes, but don't make them perfectly rounded holes, and make them on the smaller side. I would think that you would also want to ';distress'; the sack or material to make it look sort of scraggly. Do with it what you would do to make jeans look worn-in, I've actually heard that a cheese grater works good for this. From the picture, it also looks like there are stitches around the eye, forehead, etc. I would attempt to get that effect from using the same kind of material as the mask itself and stitching on it and maybe leaving it less than perfect for the worn effect. For the mouth use black yarn or other material and stitch it where the mouth would be, but not necessarily how the mouth is shaped. In the picture you can see that it does not look symmetrical, and even goes off to the side of the cheek. Make sure you fray the bottom part where it meets the neck and it looks like some kind of rope or actually a fake hangman's noose is used to tie it off.

Best of luck! ;-)
