';Love takes off masks that we fear we cannot live without and know we cannot live within';?

What does that quote mean?';Love takes off masks that we fear we cannot live without and know we cannot live within';?
...love enables you to share love from within, without fear of rejection!

yNOT?';Love takes off masks that we fear we cannot live without and know we cannot live within';?
It's a beautiful quote. We build ourselves little forts to hide in so that we can cope with the world as we see it.

The forts all look different but have one thing in common. They don't keep out hurt but they do hide us from love.

Love dismantles the forts because it sees that they are really prisons. You may be afraid to love someone in case they leave but love makes you try, despite your fears because it is a fear that will cripple us. We think we need to protect ourselves but love knows that we need to risk the hurt to be able to give and take love.
what it says.
The word personality comes from 'persona' or mask. The type Greek actors wore in ancient times.

We change many of these masks as we grow and learn, but there are also those which bind us. These are the tightest of masks we wear, even when we are alone. We hate ourselves for these masks and yet fear letting go of them.

For example there are people who use aggression and intimidation to defend themselves. For that is how they grew up, but they realize that their anger limits, but fear letting go of the anger since they feel it is their only tool for survival. When they experience true love they are able to take of that mask. That love could be a spouse or a child, but either way they learn to deal with them without anger. This frees them from the mask that bound them for so long.
i dont know maybe if we love someone we love them as they are--knowing all there faults
I guess it's like hiding behind a personality.

What you show the world as being you, when in fact behind the mask lies the real you.

Like the saying 'no one knows what goes on behind closed doors'

Example I can think of : A wife beater never shows the rest of the world what he does, everyone else sees him as a loving husband and so does the wife when around the rest of the world. Until the doors are closed and the masks removed.
Love removes all of the illusions we have built around our heart. We have erected walls to protect us from heartbreak, but we don't realize those walls keep us from the very love that we are. We must break down the walls, brick by brick, and open our hearts to Love. The only other choice is a walking death.
It means that when we love someone, we let them see our innermost feelings and who we are on the inside.....It is scary to let someone see what's in hearts without the protection of the ';mask'; you speak of. The ';mask'; is the persona we hold up for the world to see so that we don't get hurt so easily.

But sooner or later, we MUST step out from behind that mask and make ourselves vulnerable to the one we love.

By the way, it's a lovely quote.
